 | | HIGH PERFORMANCE JOHNSON®SMA ONE PIECE CONNECTORS NOW AVAILABLE FROM VITELEC | | | Vitelec Electronics | | 06/10/2006 | | | Johnson, part of Emerson Network Power Connectivity Solutions, has announced the European release of its high-performance range of SMA one piece, semi-rigid 50Ohm connectors. Offering a unique solution for high frequency cable assemblers, the captivated solderless contact connectors are specifically designed for use with semi-rigid cables.
Available throughout Europe from Vitelec Electronics and its authorised distribution network, high performance SMA one piece, semi-rigid connectors offer several key advantages over standard solder on connectors with separate centre contacts, including significantly quicker and easier assembly than non-captive contact connectors.
With captivated centre contacts that allow the complete connector assembly to simply plug onto the prepared cable, the only soldering required is between the connector body and cable jacket. In addition, the rugged centre contact socket design reduces potential intermittent signals, which can be caused by the use of high temperature lead free solder alloys.
Precision centre contacts provide predictable mechanical and electrical performance as the factory-controlled contact location reduces variations in high frequency electrical performance. The electrical performance is similar to that of non-captive contact connectors - low VSWR is specified to 18GHz and the connectors can be used at higher frequencies with extremely good Return Loss.
Plug connectors feature durable thickwall style mating interfaces with extended cut-off frequency to 28GHz while bulkhead jack connectors are provided with silicone rubber o-rings for environmental sealing of the flange mounting surface. Precision hand assembly tooling assures repeatable performance and all connectors meet or exceed the performance requirements of MIL-PRF-39012 captive contact semi-rigid SMA connectors.
