To provide a safe, convenient and versatile method of protecting electrical supplies in domestic garages and workshops, Moeller Electric has introduced a new range of compact and competitively priced xBoard garage consumer units. The robust and attractively styled units, that comply fully with the requirements of BS EN 60439-3, feature shrouded busbars, and enclosures with an IP55 or IP65 rating.

Moeller Electric’s new garage units are available for use with 40A or 63A RCD incomers, and with a 40A, 63A or 100A main incoming switches. All types can be supplied as incomer-only versions, or in versions with space to accommodate two miniature circuit breakers as well as the incomer, to provide individual protection for the outgoing circuits.

Incoming two-pole RCDs for use with the new xBoard garage units are offered with tripping currents of 30mA, 100mA, 300mA and 500mA, making it easy to achieve an optimum balance between providing effective protection and avoiding nuisance tripping. Single-pole MCBs for outgoing circuit protection are available within a wide range of ratings from 2A to 63A.

For added convenience and ease of use, all versions of the garage unit incorporate a transparent cover over the protective device that allows their trip status to be seen instantly. The cover is hinged to allow easy access to the devices for resetting after a trip.
