 | | 50,000 GRIPPLE HANGERS KEEP POLYPLAS IN SUSPENSE | | | Gripple Limited | | 18/10/2007 | | | Polyplas, Australia's largest supplier to the cold room industry, is reaping the rewards of utilising the revolutionary UK-manufactured Gripple Hanger system, of which the company is the region's sole distributor.
Having achieved worldwide success in the suspension of wide ranging mechanical and electrical loads, Gripple hangers are now playing a pivotal role for Polyplas in the assembly of cold storage distribution centres.
One of the company's largest contracts is for Coles - one of Australia's leading supermarket chains - who are constructing five vast warehouses on the outskirts of major cities. The warehouses have 45,000 sq m cold storage area, with each project employing 10,000 Gripple hangers to suspend the ceilings - a job traditionally performed by chains or rods.
Gripple hangers are installed within the roof space between the pitched steel roof structure and the topside of the ceiling. Using specially-designed support brackets, Gripple hangers of differing lengths are attached to the ends of hundreds of seven metre-long panels making up the insulated ceiling.
Manufactured by Sheffield-based Gripple Limited, each hanger comprises a length of steel wire rope, a patented Gripple self-locking device to adjust the free end, a setting key and an end fixing suited to the particular application.
Ned Braithwaite, Polyplas manager, said: "Gripple hangers are strong, easy to adjust, four times lighter and up to three times faster to install than chain or rod and have a 5:1 safety factor, allowing us to save time, energy, material and manpower. In fact, Gripple hangers are now an integral part of all our cold room installations." | |
