fischer Wireclip is a new form of suspension fixing which is being introduced to the UK market to provide a time-saving, simple-to-install system for suspending heavy loads in commercial applications.

fischer Wireclip comprises a zinc block, housing a spring and locking mechanism which grips firmly via serrated wedges on to wire cable of 2-4mm in diameter. Purchased as a range, fischer Wireclip provides a complete system for a wide range of applications, including suspending cable ducts, cable trays, ventilation ducts, lighting systems, signage, false ceilings, pipework and much more.

The system works simply by threading the wire cable through the Wireclip, making a loop and locking it with the locking mechanism, before attaching it to the item to be suspended. In contrast to conventional methods, involving threaded rod and chains, fischer Wireclip is easy to use, requires no tools for installation and the suspension length can be adjusted at any time.

Other benefits include: higher hygiene standards since, unlike with chains, there are no dust deposits; reduced weight compared to rod and chain systems; fast installation; high flexibility allowing suspension fittings of any length from a few centimetres to several metres at any angle.

The complete range comprises: Wireclip in a choice of diameters from 2mm to 4mm, with recommended loads of up to 2.3kN; cable in corresponding diameters and a choice of lengths; cable sets complete with eyelets; and wire cutters for cutting cables cleanly without fraying.

Wireclip is a high quality product which brings the reassurance of the fischer brand name to this area of fixing. The blocks are die-cast in Zamac 5 zinc alloy, giving excellent anti-corrosion properties. The cable is made from braided steel with zinc electroplating, while the internal springs are made from A2 stainless steel.

“This is not an area of the fixings market which is known for great product innovation, so we believe that fischer Wireclip will be the subject of considerable interest among contractors in this sector, as it has so many advantages over conventional solutions,” says Dr Pietro Grandesso, managing director of fischer fixings UK Ltd.
