 | | AYRSHIRE LAUNCHES NEW DESIGN AND DETAILING CD FOR STEEL FRAMES AND COLD ROLLED SECTIONS | | | Ayrshire Metal Products (Daventry) Limited | | 05/12/2007 | | | Steel frame and cold rolled section manufacturer Ayrshire Metal has launched the new version of its design and detailing software AyrSuite Plus². The new design tool is available free of charge on request to assist structural engineers, consultants, architects, and steel fabricators. Ayrshire says that a number of new functions have been integrated into AyrSuite Plus² making the software more comprehensive yet easier to use. Its new steel frame optimisation feature allows automatic selection of the most cost effective solutions for sections, bracing, and openings.
Embedded into the new AyrSuite Plus² is BRE’s automated wind speed and dynamic pressure programme BreVe. It makes the calculation of location specific wind cases quicker, easier and more accurate, from OS grid reference or by coordinates. The calculated data, including altitude as well as relation to the sea and nearby towns, can then be automatically downloaded into AyrSuite Plus² which will offer the user the optimum designed solution.
Another new feature on AyrSuite Plus² is its ‘Balanced Airflow’ calculator. Internal pressure is created by air flow in and out of a building through openings. The current Standard (BS6399) for determining wind loadings does not provide detailed guidance on the calculation of internal pressure, and leads the designer to assume ‘worst case’ constants. As an alternative to BS6399, this method, which is laid out in SCI Guide p.286, allows for a more accurate model. AyrSuite Plus² is programmed to automatically calculate the internal pressure by both methods, and guide the specifier towards a more economical design.
Ayrshire has built a number of other new features into AyrSuite Plus² including C-Detail for floor beams and accessories. Within the steel framing module, floor/ceiling joists design criteria are now expanded to include floors with vibration and ceilings with access. And the framing Design and Detail module now includes automated fixing design and selection to ensure that designers can advise installers of the requirements when fixing panels to hot rolled steel, timber, concrete, blockwork, or ‘user-defined’.
Ayrshire Metal Products manufactures steel framing systems for buildings, swage beams for mezzanine floors, and purlins and cladding rails for roofing and cladding. The company is one of Britain’s leading producers of cold rolled steel profiles and has some of the most advanced production facilities in Europe. The team offers expert technical advice and reliable service backed by over 50 years specialist experience. | |
