The Modulex range of high efficiency condensing boilers from Clyde has increased outputs and now includes two new super size models. The new Modulex M770 and M900 cast aluminium alloy boilers combine exceptional reliability with the output power of multiple boiler systems. Designed to satisfy even the most demanding commercial heating specification, these high performance boilers offer real cost and space saving benefits for specifiers, installers and end users.

Like the other floor-standing boilers in the Modulex range, Clyde’s new M770 and M900 versions combine flue gas condensing, premix burner technology and modulation to ensure maximum energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact. Mutliple burners in the new models ensure dependable, fail safe operation and eliminate the need to specify standby boilers, thereby reducing installation costs. This also assists compliance with Part L 2006, which requires much closer matching of boiler output to design load with minimal oversizing (maximum 20%) without compromising the need for back-up in the event of equipment failure. Needing only single phase electrical supply and a gas supply pressure of only 20 mbar, these larger models also require no gas booster, resulting in further cost savings.

The boilers also feature an innovative over-ride switch on the boiler’s electronic control system. If the integral boiler control system fails for any reason, this over-ride allows the boiler to continue to operate in a fail-safe mode at 50% load until a service engineer can attend.

Clyde MD Jeremy Arliss claims, “Because the new Modulex has multiple burners it can continue to operate if one fails. And with the control system over-ride the boiler continues to operate if the electronics fail. It truly removes the need for a stand-by boiler. That’s a huge cost saving”.

The radiant burner design provides almost silent combustion, which makes Modulex one of the quietest on the commercial boiler market at less than 50dBA. All the Modulex heat exchangers are cast from magnesium silicate aluminium alloy, which is strong and yet light in weight for easier handling. The corrosion-resistant castings are precision engineered to give greater efficiency than with traditional cast iron sections.

On models up to M340, multiple flue connection positions are another innovative feature of Modulex boilers from Clyde and make siting the flue much more flexible. In addition, water and gas connections on those boilers can be made from either the right or left hand side, so they can be installed in almost any location. Where plant room access is restricted or difficult, the boiler modules can be ‘split down’ for more convenient handling. They can even be stacked two high to minimise plant room footprint.

With this latest expansion, Clyde’s Modulex range now offers eleven models with outputs from 96kW through to 894kW to suit all types and sizes of commercial heating requirements.

Building on over 85 years’ expertise in the supply and support of boilers, radiators and heating systems for commercial customers, Clyde Energy Solutions is now complementing these products with sustainable energy systems. As a result of this wider focus Clyde has been restructured into six divisions: Boilers, Radiators, Sustainable Energy, Hot Water Systems, Technical Services, and Consulting.
