JCC Lighting has recently launched a brand new catalogue to showcase 14 stylish new ranges of lighting. All the lights in the New Product Launch collection are deliberately contemporary in style and represent the types of lighting in demand right now, from exterior spotlights to interior LEDs.

JCC Lighting is already well known for its annual catalogue, which has proved so popular in 2005 that 10,000 extra copies have just been printed. But for JCC, simply adding this latest collection to the next edition would have been a missed opportunity.

Richard Bramwell, spokesperson for JCC Lighting, explained: 'We felt that these particular products offered something really different to our customers and therefore, rather than put them in our main catalogue where they might have been overlooked, we decided to create a separate catalogue. This also gave us the opportunity to use lifestyle photography to show these lights at their best in settings people could relate to easily. We've already had such positive feedback, it's definitely something you'll see more of from JCC in the future.'

Certainly the quality of the photography gives this catalogue 'coffee table' appeal, but the products that it brings to life are stars in their own right. Clean lines, bold statements, matt finishes and a colour palate including anthracite, graphite and silver define this collection, making it appealing to the most style-conscious consumers. Many of the 14 ranges are uncompromisingly modern, offering lighting that creates a feature in a room, rather than fading into the background - something of which JCC is proud.

Richard Bramwell explains why: 'Our product team spent a great deal of time and energy researching the latest trends and technology in order to assemble this collection. These 21st century products show the diversity of lighting now available, and this catalogue represents JCC's wish to offer our customers the greatest breadth of choice at all times.'

Undoubtedly the range that has caused the biggest stir among JCC's clients so far has to be Dax LED lights. This feature lighting can be used with high output 1W Luxeon LEDs, in either white or blue, to throw a dramatic burst of colour across a wall.

Richard Bramwell says: 'People have been stunned by what DAX can do. It has real 'I want one of those' appeal, particularly in the blue. We were especially pleased with the picture of DAX in the catalogue as it really does the effect justice.'

Another range that makes this catalogue a 'must have' for lighting designers is Linz. The aluminium Linz range takes decorative lighting to a new level, with a series of unusual halogen lights. The wall mounted Linz wedge looks like an art installation, while the square Linz spotlights come with either one or two rotating heads attached to the mounting block, which creates the effect of tumbling cubes. The range is completed by wall mounted and ceiling mounted styles, and with hidden fittings Linz lights appear to float. Linz can be used to set a mood and add ambiance to a room, making it an ideal range for homes as well as restaurants and bars.

Within the pages of JCC's New Product Launch Catalogue are plenty more cutting-edge lighting designs and ideas for where and how to use the lights. The Mirande range makes a strong, geometric impact by combining spotlights and smoked glass, the showpiece being the Mirande pendant, with its suspended bank of spotlights. Innovations include Midori - a new miniature 12V halogen downlight that uses the smallest reflector lamp available to create sparkling accent lighting. For a high-spec finish in a bathroom, there are Crystal Glass lights which prove IP44 protection against moisture doesn't hinder great design.

Even amenity lighting, so often an also-ran in the style stakes, isn't overlooked in JCC's search for new products, which is proved by the Twin range. Available in large and small, Twin are round bulkhead type lights with the high protection demanded by amenity lighting, suitable for walls or ceilings.

The geometrically-inspired shapes of the exterior Planar range sees discs and cones intersecting strong, split uprights, making these bollards ideal for setting the tone outside any business premises. With matching wall lights, the Planar range provides form and function in equal measure, and in either anthracite or silver the overall effect is not dissimilar to some well known brands of speakers.

To move this range away from a commercial context and into the garden, the Planar series also comes in a wood effect finish, with the tall upright lines lending themselves well to the extremely realistic long-grained pine effect.

We also see this attractive wood effect used in the Helios garden bollard range - a chunky pole topped off by a choice of decorative grill or plain stainless steel head, available in three different heights - and in the Cumulus range, a slimmer style of garden bollards with matching wall lanterns. These elegant outdoor lights complement any garden setting and their hardwearing, maintenance-free finish offers long lasting good looks - a big advantage over real wood.

For an innovative twist on garden lighting, Cannes halogen spotlights take design cues from interior styles, so they can be used to deliberately blur the boundaries between inside and out. This is particularly effective in courtyard gardens, terraces and balconies where the outside space is often treated as an extension of the living room, demanding the same high quality finish. Cannes spotlights are silver-grey in colour with surface or spike mounted options and the range includes matching wall lights in a choice of elegant styles.

Richard Bramwell has said the response to all the lights featured in the catalogue has been overwhelming. 'People have found this collection truly inspiring, proving the market has an appetite for new lighting ideas. The catalogue has generated a significant number of enquiries and I believe that showing products in a way that sparks people's imagination is definitely the reason for its success.'
