 | | POLYPIPE CIVILS' SUPPORT FOR DONCASTER'S NEW SPORTS COMPLEX
| | | Polypipe Civils | | 05/10/2006 | | | Polypipe Civils the UK's leading manufacturer of ducting, drainage, sewerage and environmental systems has recently supplied a total of £15,000 worth of drainage products on site at the new Doncaster Sports Complex.
Contractor Mowlem, who has worked alongside Polypipe Civils on a number of high profile projects in recent months, approached Polypipe Civils at the end of last year seeking a tailored solution for a complete drainage and ducting system for the new 15,000-seater stadium, a project which was commissioned by Doncaster MBC.
The new sports stadium is being built as a community facility, and is owned by Doncaster MBC and part funded with public money. It will house a number of educational and training facilities within the complex, including Doncaster Rovers, who will lease part of the building.
Polypipe Civils recommended and consequently supplied Ridgidrain, which was selected for surface water drainage in sizes varying from 100mm to 300mm. 150mm Ridgiduct was also chosen for all on-site electrical applications.
In addition to the main grass reinforced pitch, plans for the sports complex will also include a further two full sized grass pitches, floodlighting on the main pitch, six athletics tracks, a 500-seater mini stand, three 7 a-side pitches, eight 5 a-side pitches, a 10 acre public realm area and car parking with 1,000 spaces.
A huge supporter of Doncaster Rovers, The Polypipe Group already has a strong connection to the club in the form of Polypipe Building Products Managing Director, John Fairhurst. John was a former player at 'Donny Rovers' from 1959 to 1965 and has continued his support for them ever since.
Rachel Roberts, Marketing Manager for Polypipe Civils comments: 'We are delighted to have been able to offer our products and services on this project, especially since both Polypipe Civils and Polypipe Building Products have enjoyed a good relationship with Doncaster Rovers in the past few years. We'd like to wish all the people that play at the new stadium all the very best for the coming season, and hope they all enjoy the new ground!'
The new Lakeside Sports Complex will be situated on the water's edge at Doncaster Lakeside and will be open at the end of 2006.. Doncaster Rovers Football Club, Doncaster Lakers Rugby Club, Doncaster Rovers Belles Women's Football Club and Doncaster and Stainforth Athletics Clubs will all benefit from the new stadiums complex and facilities.
Polypipe Civils' Ridgidrain is often utilised as the preferred alternative to clay and concrete pipes. The range is available in a variety of sizes, starting from 150mm and includes 750, 900 and 1050mm diameters.
Ridgiduct is a stiff yet flexible twin walled system pipe, available in a range of sizes - from 94m to 300m diameters - and for use in the power, motorway communications, lighting and utilities sectors.
