WARD INTRODUCES TOPSPAN – A FRAME-TO-FRAME ROOFDECK SYSTEM
Ward Insulated Panels
05/03/2008
Ward Insulated Panels has announced the launch of Topspan – an innovative frame-to-frame insulated structural roofdeck.
Following the success of its existing Topdek composite single ply roofdeck, Ward Insulated Panels has used its expertise to develop a new frame to frame long span composite roofdeck.
Topspan is an insulated roofdeck combining a structural deck, PIR insulation and a metal top sheet into one product. Designed to support a choice of site applied standing seam or membrane finishes, Topspan provides a clear span capability of up to 8 metres, and is faster to install than alternative built-up roofdeck systems. The product has excellent fire resistance and the PIR core is environmentally sustainable as it is CFC/HCFC-free with zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP). The internal face of the deck is pre-finished providing a smooth clean interior appearance.
Topspan is suitable for flat or curved roof applications and is available with a Wardsure Warranty guaranteeing the thermal and structural performance of the panel for up to 25 years.
Similar concepts are currently being used successfully overseas and Ward believes that the UK could benefit from this method of construction. The product has been rigorously tested and assessed and complies with UK building regulations.
Ward has already received much interest in Topspan from building designers and structural engineers keen to exploit the benefits of this new approach to roof construction and they have employed Michelle Donohue as product manager to promote this new product throughout the UK.
Michelle said: “Topspan is receiving high levels of interest from engineers who like the composite concept, which means that accurate U values are achieved. Contractors who have installed Topdek have been interested too, because it can be lifted from wagon to roof without the need for manual handling, and because it is composite and long spanning it can be installed much quicker than built up alternatives “
