 | | INSULATION BOARD EVOLVES TO MEET NEW REGS
| | | Springvale EPS Ltd | | 05/10/2006 | | | Now available from Springvale EPS Ltd is an improved version of its well-established Floorshield insulation board that enables designers and contractors to meet the thermal targets of the amended Approved Document L of the Building Regulations.
Manufactured from high performance EPS, Platinum Floorshield is a rigid insulation panel that offers a minimum 20% improvement in thermal performance over conventional white expanded polystyrene alternatives. Compared to other insulation materials such as PUR, the Platinum system regularly proves to be a cost effective option.
Produced in a range of densities, the grey panels are intended for use on both ground-supported and suspended concrete floors. They may also be used as rigid insulation boards fitted between joists in suspended timber floors. Platinum Floorshield is available in boards of 2400 by 1200 mm, and a wide range of thicknesses from 25 -100mm. In most domestic cases a thickness of 65mm will offer a significant contribution in complying with the revised Regulations.
The low environmental impact credentials of Platinum Floorshield are substantial. BBA-certified, the product is completely CFC and HCF -free, is non-toxic and non-irritant. An Environmental Profile prepared by the BRE shows that the product (which consists of recyclable material ) scores very positively on the EcoPoints initiative, with a `cradle to grave' scoring of 0.043 over a 60 year lifespan. This figure, complemented by zero ODP and zero GWP, represents a very low environmental impact compared to many other types of insulation.
Fully-descriptive specification literature is available to designers, together with Springvale's Technical Advisory Service, specialising in SAP calculations, EcoHome Assessments, design support and further information on Building Regulation compliance.
