HEALTHY HEATING FOR JJB FITNESS CLUBS

Hoval SR combination boilers have been specified by consulting engineers Hannan & Associates for use in the rapidly expanding network of JJB Fitness Clubs. The boilers are serving central air handling plant and domestic hot water (DHW) systems, as well as the swimming pools and spas.

JJB Fitness Clubs have been described as ‘the greatest success story of the last decade’ and new clubs are being built at the rate of around 15 a year. Each club is supplied with two Hoval SR-plus Combination boiler packages that include integral CT-Plus calorifiers to provide instant hot water for showers and other DHW requirements. The compact package also incorporates a primary circulating pump and DHW temperature control instrumentation.

“We selected Hoval’s SR boilers for their high quality and ability to meet the needs of these projects,” explained Hannan’s David Wibberley. “We have also received a very high standard of service and technical support throughout these fast-track projects,” he added.

A key benefit of the Hoval SR-plus Combination package is its small footprint, enabling the plant to be installed within a relatively small space. At JJB Fitness Clubs, both boilers are energised to run on demand, in a lead and lag configuration. The lead boiler meets the 24 hour heating demands of the swimming pool, while the lag boiler is brought into play at times of peak hot water demand. Alternating lead and lag status between the two boilers ensures that the run hours of the two boilers are very similar.
