 | | VALLA MAKES LIGHT WORK OF HEAVYWEIGHT APPLICATION | | | Valla Cranes | | 05/10/2006 | | | A Valla 90E mobile crane is proving the perfect `pick and carry' solution for Surrey-based marble and stone importers Gerald Culliford Ltd, who needed a compact, agile machine to carry slabs around their busy yard with maximum safety and efficiency.
The company imports granite, marble, slate and limestone from around the world and wanted a crane that would be easy to manoeuvre and be able to lift and carry slabs with precision. The Valla 90E offers power steering with 140 degree articulation, plus three hydraulic telescoping sections and an optional boom extension, chosen by Gerald Culliford Ltd, to provide excellent flexibility in terms of lifting options.
'Our stone slabs are sawn from large blocks and although the edges are rough the surface needs to be kept in excellent condition whilst being transported around the yard and loading onto our customers vehicles' says Simon Sands, Managing Director of Kingston Upon Thames-based Gerald Culliford Ltd.
'The Valla 90E is easy to drive in limited spaces, simple to operate and offers very impressive lift capacity for such a small and nimble crane'
'The slabs we deal with can weigh more than half a tonne each and vary in size to up to six metres square - as a valuable commodity it is vital that we avoid breakage. The Valla 90E can lift up to a maximum of nine tonnes so it is certainly able to cope with our demands'.
The Valla 90E has an onboard safety system that won't allow the driver to lift anything beyond its capacity. This is ideal for companies such as Gerald Culliford Ltd where safety is paramount.
Valla Cranes provided onsite training for all members of staff using the Valla 90E, as part of the total sales package.
