 | | MOELLER ELECTRIC IS THE CHOICE FOR NURSING HOMES | | | Moeller Electric | | 18/03/2008 | | | Due to their convenience, reliability and value for money, Stamford-based specialist electrical contractor, Electrical Installations (Lincs) Limited, has chosen Moeller Electric distribution products as the basis of the electrical systems for two major nursing home projects.
The homes, one of which has 98 bedrooms and the other 118, are equipped with Moeller Electric’s innovative Mini Panel Boards for main distribution and the company’s XBoard consumer units – which are specifically designed for ease of installation – used for supplies to the individual bedrooms.
“The Moeller Mini Panel Boards were an easy choice,” said Electrical Installations (Lincs) Ltd’s Managing Director, James Hodgkin, “as they are the only panel boards currently available that can accommodate outgoing MCBs rated up to 125A, thereby allowing us to be sure that they would cater for all existing and future requirements in the nursing homes without having to use costly MCCBs for the outgoing circuits.”
The company also appreciated the convenience of the removable pan assemblies featured by the Mini Panel Boards, and the unique design that allows ample room for wiring without noticeably increasing the overall dimensions of the boards. The readily accessible earth and neutral bars were additional aids to easy wiring.
For the largest of the nursing homes, Electrical Installations took advantage of the facility for using Mini Panel Boards in combination by bolting two boards together to provide more outgoing ways than the maximum of 16 offered by individual boards in the range.
The XBoard consumer units used in the project offered benefits similar to those provided by the Mini Panel Boards. In particular, they feature generous space for wiring, preformed knockouts for ease of installation and clip-in removable pan assemblies. In addition, clip-on shrouding covers all live parts in the units to ensure maximum safety.
“One of the things we really like about the Moeller Electric products is that they are exceptionally well made,” said James Hodgkin, “not only are they robust and attractive in appearance, they are also free of things like sharp edges, something that certainly isn’t true of products from other suppliers that we’ve used in the past. Also, the Moeller Electric products are very competitively priced, and availability is excellent.”
“Finally,” he continued, “since we started using Moeller Electric distribution products around two years ago, we’ve never had a single failure. That’s surely undisputable confirmation of the quality of the equipment.”
The Mini Panel Boards used in this project are intended to provide versatile and cost effective three-phase distribution solutions in applications with total loads up to 400A, and are available in versions with 4, 8, 12, or 16 outgoing ways. The XBoard consumer units are available in main switch and RCD controlled versions with up to 18 ways, and in user configurable split load and dual tariff versions with up to 16 ways. | |
