 | | HAVE YOU GOOD EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES OR CASE STUDIES TO SHARE WITH AGE POSITIVE AT THE DEPARTMENT FOR WORK AND PENSIONS? | | | Age Positive at the DWP | | 31/03/2008 | | | You may or may not have noticed over the past few months, that Age Positive, under ministerial guidance, has shifted towards the older worker, as it is felt that younger workers' interests are well represented by other agencies.
We have recently undertaken research in order to establish the action we need to take to re-invigorate the Age Positive campaign and communicate the core messages about older workers which employers seem to have missed, for example:
The state pension age of 65 is not the statutory retirement age; there is no retirement age, neither is there a legal requirement to have one
One of the business benefits of retaining experienced older workers is that the CIPD have identified it costs £8,500 to recruit a new employee,
Older workers are as receptive to training as younger workers
Older workers have vast amounts of experience and tend to be extremely reliable
Irrespective of legislative requirements, these are only four of the obvious advantages of employing older workers.
If you would like to engage with us at Age Positive, can provide relevant contact details and are able to provide some relevant older worker case studies (by request - we don't expect you to send by return!), I would be more than happy to place you on our new Marketing Communications database for potential publicity opportunities and usage by the DWP Press Office, the DWP Regional Press Office network and my own work, as we further develop our publicity strategy for going forward.
There are no "thinking" forms to fill in - either send you email signature, or fill in your details below and copy and paste then send to edward.moss@dwp.gsi.gov.uk
