The President of North-American-based Columbia Machine Inc, Rick Goode, and his two vice-presidents visited Lignacite Ltd’s new £7m state-of-the-art masonry factory at Brandon in Suffolk during May.

With customers in more than 100 countries, Columbia Machine Inc is the world’s leading manufacturer of concrete products equipment. They supplied Lignacite with a CPM 60, the largest and most technically advanced block machine in their range, and the only model of its kind in the UK.

Columbia’s Vice-President with responsibility for concrete products, David Sharp, said, “We consider Lignacite to be the number one producer of masonry products in the world, and this machine gives them the capability to make the most accurate and energy efficient blocks in the industry.”

Lignacite’s Managing Director, Giles de Lotbiniere, who will be visiting Columbia Machine Inc later in the year, said, “David’s comments about Lignacite and the quality of our blocks is ‘music to our ears’ … although as he’s also responsible for sales I shall look forward to seeing what else Columbia Machine Inc have to offer when I visit them!”

Since building its new plant and new curing chambers, Lignacite has reduced it’s CO2 emissions by 44.5% according to a report by the Carbon Trust.
