 | | JOTUN OPTIMAL SAILS INTO VIEW AT UNIQUE MARITIME ATTRACTION | | | Jotun Paints (Europe) Ltd | | 13/06/2008 | | | Leading paint manufacturer Jotun Paints (Europe) Ltd's Optimal high performance opaque woodstain has been specified for refurbishment work at Hartlepool's Historic Quay.
One of the North East's top tourist attractions, the Historic Quay is a faithful reproduction of an 18th century seaport offering visitors an experience of what life was like at the time of Admiral Lord Nelson and the Battle of Trafalgar.
It is also the home of HMS Trincomalee - Europe's oldest floating warship - and features quayside buildings that have been design to recreate the type of houses and shops found at a typical port during the reign of King George III.
Optimal white was specified because of its superior and longer lasting weather protection capabilities - it will provide up to 12 years maintenance free cover.
It is being applied in several stages during a two year refurbishment programme to all exterior timber substrates including doors, windows, fascias and soffits as well as being used to brighten up the entrance.
Alan Aston, technical and display officer for Hartlepool Arts, Events and Museums Service, said: "We needed a high performance coating that would offer long term protection against extreme weather conditions.
"Optimal, with the double benefit of beautiful natural looks and longer lasting durability, was the ideal solution."
Jotun's technical adviser Richard Gledhill said: "This is another great example of how our products can be used to solve a wide variety of protective coating requirements."
Product is being supplied direct to site by Jotun's regional distributor Syntema (North East)
The Optimal collection of water-borne, high performance stains provides up to 12 years protection of exterior timber and is available in a range of subtle tones and bright, bold colours.
