 | | DOUBLE SUCCESS FOR FORTICRETE AT THE BRITISH PRECAST CONCRETE FEDERATION AWARDS | | | Forticrete | | 20/06/2008 | | | Forticrete has been awarded the highest accolade in the Concrete Targets 2010 (CT2010) Health and Safety Improvement Scheme and was also the winner of the Masonry project, Project Award, for its work on Pegasus Court and Lodge in Weston-Super-Mare, at the British Precast Concrete Federation’s (BPCF) annual Best Practice awards ceremony.
The award in the Masonry category, for the Pegasus Court development, was praised for being sympathetic to the surrounding buildings with high levels of Cast Stone detailing. The project, which consists of two retirement apartment blocks and a short-stay hostel for the Royal British Legion, called for complex, detailed cast stone elements. This required the majority of products used to be created from individually produced moulds at Forticrete’s Cebastone manufacturing facility. The result was a development that illustrates the ability of Cast Stone to cost-effectively replicate the aesthetic properties of natural stone. Additionally it showcased Forticrete’s capabilities in project management through close collaboration with factors and contractors.
In addition to being awarded the prestigious Gold Award with Red Seal for its Health & Safety Improvement Scheme, Forticrete received a commendation for achieving accident reduction in line with targets. The company met the requirements for improvement in health and safety across the three categories of physical safety, occupational health and human factor, as well as meeting overall statistical compliance.
Shaun Gray, Managing Director at Forticrete, comments: “We are delighted to have been recognised in not one but two categories at the BPCF Awards. The Pegasus Court and Lodge development was a very rewarding project, allowing us to make the most of our bespoke manufacturing capabilities and the technical expertise of our team.
“Having had our Health and Safety policy profiled recently in our public CSR document, we’re very pleased to have won the Gold CT2010 award. Both awards are a testament to the quality of our products and the hard work and dedication of all our staff.”
The company was also short-listed in the Sustainability Category for its innovative use of recycled aggregates at its Dewsbury manufacturing plant. | |
