A series of attractive and energy efficient Aerofoil Fins have been fitted at the UK-based research headquarters of Victrex, in Lancashire. The company, which also has offices in the United States, Asia Pacific and Europe, is the market-leading provider of high grade PEEK-based polymers to medical device manufacturers.
As part of a major refurbishment project at its HQ, nearly 30 of Levolux’s acclaimed Aerofoil Fins were integrated beautifully with Wilson Mason Architects’ exterior design to completely screen the front face of the building.
Fitted in four columns, each around 3m wide, they will keep internal temperatures as cool as possible. The support plates at each end were also profiled to give an attractive, 300mm overhang (complete with 250mm Fins).
By using Levolux products, up to 90% of solar heat gain will be excluded from Victrex’s offices – allowing substantial savings, both in initial capital outlays and on-going running costs. Natural daylight is still filtered into the building and exceptional outward visibility retained.
Manufactured from extruded aluminium sections with aluminium end-caps, Levolux’s Aerofoil Fins can be anodised or polyester coated to blend with the existing building and surroundings.
Corrosion resistant, they are virtually maintenance free and flexible enough in design to fit any structure, either new build or refurbishment. The Fins can be manually, motorised or fully automatically controlled.
