 | | LINDAB LAUNCHES CADVENT COMPUTER PROGRAMME TO AID DUCTWORK SYSTEM DESIGNERS | | | Lindab Limited | | 27/06/2008 | | | Lindab has launched CADvent - the industry's first computer based system for designing circular ductwork that automatically rejects non-standard sizes.
CADvent is an easy to operate AutoCAD application, purpose-designed for use in association with Lindab's huge range including both Vent and Safe self-sealing ductwork products.
The programme makes it possible to follow each project from initial design, through assembly and installation to documentation.
Systems can be modelled in life-like 3D and calculations can be carried out prior to installlation - so that any bugs can be ironed out long before the ductwork arrives on site.
CADvent permits duct sizing based on constant static pressure, maximum friction and air speed, or according to the 30% method. The entire project can be calculated (and accurately priced) based on real component data and system requirements - including airflow, required pressures, sound levels and permissable leakage levels.
Although drafting is carried out in 3D mode, Lindab CADvent can also show views in 2D, perspective and in section.
All types of ductwork
The new programme can be used to design all types of ductwork system solution including rectangular and flat oval types.
Circular solutions are linked directly to the Lindab range of ductwork and accessories, which is available only in the standard sizes approved for use throughout Europe in accordance with BS/EN 1506:2007.
This automatically overcomes the recently highlighted problem of non-standard sizing. Ductwork industry leaders have expressed mounting concern over the return to use of sizes such as 224 and 280mm, which were declared non-standard back in 2001.
