 | | NEW PRODUCT RELEASE: STENTOFON OPC SERVER | | | Zenitel | | 21/07/2008 | | | Zenitel, international market leader in integrated communication solutions for the professional market, announces the release of its OPC server for the STENTOFON AlphaCom E exchange. As many facility integrator companies now implement their system management software as OPC client, Zenitel is pleased to offer a solution that offers true interoperability and scalability giving enormous savings in implementation cost and time.
OPC is an open standards specification which gives a consistent method of accessing data and controlling system connected hardware. Using hardware like the AlphaCom E exchange, information about the capabilities and status of connected intercom stations is presented in a defined manner to the OPC based system management software package. This consistency negates the need to write specific interface protocol software for each combination of hardware and management software. In projects where the management software needs to control more than just the intercom exchange, there are huge savings to be made in reduced implementation time and the cost of system integration.
The STENTOFON OPC server is a self configuring software package, which needs very little information during commissioning; most information will automatically be extracted by the OPC server.
The AlphaCom E exchange meanwhile, communicates to the management system that it can report different statuses of its intercom stations. Furthermore it lets the management software know that it can accept commands such as calling, cancelling of calls, and many more.
A typical application is a large building with an AlphaCom E intercom exchange, CCTV, intruder alarm, fire alarm and access control, all connected to an OPC based management system. The guards receive information from all these different systems in a recognizable and consistent way which allows for easy operation of the total system.
Ordering and pricing of the STENTOFON OPC server is based on the number of licenses inside the AlphaCom E exchange; the OPC server software itself can be downloaded for free. Each exchange in an AlphaNet, STENTOFON's internal networking technology, must have its own OPC licenses. For OPC AE all AlphaCom Events for a station can be individually configured. | |
