Speedy Hire, the UK’s largest tool and equipment hire firm, has invested over £6m in new JCB equipment.

The company took delivery of the first units this week – a combination of micro excavators, 8014 mini excavators and dumpers - as part of a three-year programme which will further expand its light plant fleet.

The kit, all liveried in the company’s trademark red with Speedy logo, joins Speedy’s extensive range of JCB equipment.

A brand new TD5 high-lift dumpster has also been introduced to the fleet, following design input from Speedy’s senior supply chain manager Andy Connor.

Martin Knott, managing director of Speedy Hire’s tool divison said: “This investment means we now have in excess of 500 machines in our light plant range. But we’re not just increasing our fleet – our priority is to ensure that customers have access to the newest and safest equipment on the market.

The investment in new fleet is a result of increasing demand from customers, particularly those operating in the renovation and utility sectors.”

Managing Director of Gunn JCB Limited Gordon Smith said: "Gunn JCB was delighted to partner Speedy Hire with its venture into the small plant market three years ago and we’re looking forward to assisting them with future growth within their businesses."
