 | | TERRAM 1B1 PROVIDES DRAINAGE FOR LANDFILL CAPPING | | | Terram Ltd | | 07/08/2008 | | | Terram 1B1 has been specified for the effective drainage for the capping system at Linwood Moss landfill site in Scotland.
The former landfill site, near Glasgow, is being capped to prevent gas emissions and to stop the ingress of rainwater at the site, with works due for completion in December 2008. To cap the site, a protective geotextile is being laid, followed by a geomembrane liner. To prevent water from building up, Terram 1B1 is being installed, followed by a layer of soil.
On selecting Terram 1B1, Stuart Anderson, contracts manager at landfill contractors Ascot Environmental Ltd commented, “The 1B1 provides the dual function of drainage and protection to the waterproofing underneath. It is simply the right product for this application, and in terms of its specification, one of the most cost-effective.”
Terram 1B1 is a robust yet flexible single sheet which consists of drainage net with a filter geotextile on both sides to drain surface water safely and reliably. The one layer of geotextile acts to protect the geomembrane liner, whilst the top layer protects the drainage net. With the project at Linwood Moss still underway, Stuart Anderson is very pleased with the progress, “The 1B1 composite is easy to install and everything is going to plan. We are very happy with this product.” | |
