 | | CABLOFIL CONTAINS POWER BEHIND WORLD CLASS RESEARCH | | | Cablofil Ltd | | 14/08/2008 | | | A significant refurbishment by STFC Daresbury Laboratory near Warrington in the delivery of Science and Technology for the UK is not just about improving facilities but about driving forward scientific advances. And helping to ensure that the facility’s scientists and technicians have all the power and data services they need at their fingertips is thousands of metres of Cablofil steel wire cable tray.
Established in 1962 and now one of the leading institutions within the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC), The Daresbury Laboratory boasts some of the UK’s most illustrious scientists and most advanced equipment. It is home to the Synchrotron Radiation Source (SRS), a world class facility dedicated to the exploitation of Synchrotron Radiation (SR) for fundamental and applied research. Its research programmes cover areas as diverse as biology, chemistry, materials science, physics and engineering and the ongoing refurbishment project has seen the facilities increase dramatically over the past two years.
Offering a lightweight and flexible solution which is fast and simple to install, Cablofil steel wire tray is strong enough to hold multiple runs of both power and data cables. The tray has been ceiling mounted throughout Daresbury Laboratory’s offices, labs and main testing facilities as part of the installation of power and data for the organisation’s sensitive testing equipment and its IBM supercomputer, which has the processing power of more than 2,500 PCs.
“The use of Cablofil’s ceiling mounted cable tray within the test and commissioning laboratory provides and efficient, effective and safe cable management system,” commented Colin Weeks from Daresbury Laboratory. “It enables detector systems to be connected to the numerous pieces of test equipment required during the test/commissioning phase of our research.” | |
