 | | FAST PACED FINANCE AND FUTURE FLEXIBILITY FOR ELECTRAK | | | Electrak International | | 14/08/2008 | | | Future-flexibility and speed and ease of installation made Electrak’s pre-wired modular power distribution system the preferred choice for Morgan’s Stanley’s offices at HQ1 in Canary Wharf.
The financial services firm occupies 12 floors of the Skidmore, Owings & Merrill-designed building and, in such a fast-paced sector where much of the computer equipment is business critical, the space often needs to adapt quickly to the company’s needs.
Contractor, PIP, has completed a number of installations at Canary Wharf and chose Electrak’s underfloor Power Track and busbar to offer a quick to install and adaptable plug and play system.
For the underfloor power distribution system, PIP installed both ‘dirty’ track throughout the building and ‘clean UPS’ for the trading floors, backing up the power for this business critical aspect of the operation with the UPS system. In the ceiling voids, the contractor installed both Electrak busbar for small power and the company’s ‘Buscom’ power and comms busbar hybrid, for the building’s DALI lighting control system. Electrak also supplied Rotasoc desk modules for every floor. The busbar interconnected modular socket system allows additional modules to be added quickly and simply as needs change, ensuring a futureproof installation.
“We designed the installation to be completely plug and play,” explained Peter Cole from PIP, “and Electrak’s colour and key coded system ensures that only compatible connections are made, which makes things a lot quicker and simpler on site. It was essential throughout the project that we remain on schedule to allow Morgan Stanley to occupy each floor of the building within their planned timeframe and the system we have installed means we can update their power distribution with minimum fuss and disruption.” | |
