Leading UK distributor Climate Center is expanding in the applied air conditioning and refrigeration equipment sectors.

It has established a dedicated team to provide expert support to customers on larger projects.

Dean Fradgley, trading director for Climate Center, said: “The traditional market for Climate Center has been small to medium size projects. However, we see a significant opportunity in relation to larger projects, requiring expert support on design and technology. We can provide that, and help customers deliver for their own clients.”

The new applied team has access to a growing range of products available through Climate Center and the wider Wolseley group.

Key Climate Center ranges include Samsung DVM and Daikin Skyair air conditioning, Unico ducted high velocity ventilation and air conditioning, and custom built condensing units and refrigeration packs, assembled at its dedicated facility in Newbury.

Climate Center can also draw on Qualitair close control systems for data and server rooms, Sabiana chilled water and air handling products and Rheem rooftop cooling and heat pump packaged units for commercial and retail applications.

Other products in its armoury include Eureka heat exchangers for harnessing waste heat from refrigeration plant, and the Windy packaged terminal comfort heating and cooling unit, for use in single rooms.

The team can provide customers with full AutoCAD drawings for tender purposes, select plant and produce bills of materials for capital plant, including all ancillaries.

As well as targeting larger refrigeration and air conditioning contractors, it is also catering for the larger design and installs mechanical services contractors and consultants.

Dean says: “We will work closely with the customer and the entire supply chain to make sure a project meets the brief, and that an excellent end result is delivered to the client.

“We believe it is a unique service for a distributor to offer, with significant benefits for customers and the end user.”

Key benefits for customers are:
Expert technical support for equipment and systems;
Full design and equipment selection service;
Central point of contact and source for all equipment;
‘Honest-broker’ approach to equipment selection;
Multiple outlets for equipment supply nationally;
Access to all Wolseley brand components and equipment;
Highly competitive pricing with manufacturer and wholesaler support;

“The specification market has moved on in recent years,” says Dean. “Specifiers demand expert support in relation to design and equipment, and this must continue from project inception to completion.

“We are able to provide this, and ensure that the final result meets the brief in terms of performance, cost and environmental credentials.”

Recent projects supported by Climate Center include a hotel near Stratford-upon-Avon, where 40 bedrooms have been equipped with Samsung DVM air conditioning; and a major hotel in Birmingham, where 208 refurbished rooms were equipped with high efficiency packaged air conditioners.

Major projects in the pipeline include a manufacturing warehouse requiring 840kW cooling, utilising central water chillers and air handling units, and a commercial office complex using four Samsung DVM heat reclaim systems and 27 cassette and hi-wall fan coils.

Says Dean: “We see this as a major opportunity, not only for Climate Center to grow its business, but for contractors to enhance the service they offer to their customers. We can help at all stages of a project, and ensure it is delivered successfully.”
