ACE NAMES PREFERRED PROVIDERS FOR NEW BUSINESS ACADEMY
ACE Business Academy
19/08/2008
Plans to set up the new ACE Business Academy took another step forward today when the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) announced the selection of its preferred bidders for the project.
ACE has appointed four leading UK universities and business schools as their preferred bidders to set up and run the Business Academy. The four preferred bidders are Aston Business School, Durham Business School, Loughborough University and The University of Manchester.
ACE will now work with its preferred bidders to develop the course programmes. The ACE Business Academy prospectus should be available in September and the first course is planned to start in January 2009.
Making the announcement, ACE chief executive Nelson Ogunshakin said: “Creating the ACE Business Academy was a central recommendation from ACE’s skills shortage survey. This important new initiative goes to the heart of the resource, recruitment and staff retention issues that we know are key concerns to our members.
“ACE wants to help consultancy and engineering firms to improve their business skills. Today’s young professionals are tomorrow’s industry leaders and for them - and their businesses - to succeed, they will need to have first class skills in leadership and business management. And that is what our Academy leadership programme will provide,” Ogunshakin said.
The ACE Business Academy will offer a flexible, part-time programme in leadership and business management. Six modular courses will bring together top-quality academic thinking with the practical experience of industry leaders. The course will initially be offered as a post-graduate certificate, to be studied part-time over 12-18 months. Students will then have the option to continue the part-time programme to diploma and MA/MSc level.
