KAC, the world leader in call point technology, has extended its new innovative Call Point family with the introduction of an IP67 sealed WCP Outdoor Call Point range, designed for use outdoors or in harsh environments where large amounts of dust, dirt or moisture can be expected to be present in the atmosphere. The IP67 rating of the WCP far exceeds the requirement of IPx3 specified in EN54 part 11: an IPx3 rated device is highly unlikely to provide long-term reliability if installed in an outdoor or harsh environment.
The WCP Call Point front fascia is a simple snap-on fixtureless press fit to the back box, reducing installation time. Three standard 20mm cable entries are fitted, two in the top and one in the bottom of the back box, allowing in-out or pass-through wiring to be easily installed.
With the exception of the IP67 protection and fixing options, the WCP range mirrors the benefits of the MCP indoor call point range; it has the same special terminal block to speed installation. After connection to the system wiring, the terminal block is initially fitted with a simple continuity link, enabling the wiring to be tested for open, short circuit and earth fault without the WCP product itself in place. When commissioning, the terminal block is simply plugged into the WCP product, which in turn is then snapped into the back box.
The operation of the WCP is readily interchanged between a break glass and a resetable element without any additional components being needed. A single tool, identical to that used for all KAC call points, is used for test, reset and lid release. The WCP range is approved by LPCB to EN54 part 11, with both VdS and BOSEC approvals imminent.
