Damper system separates handles from motor body

AVT side handle cuts vibration

Soft-start system for 7' and 9' grinders

Makita continues to expand the range of professional power tools featuring its patented AVT, anti vibration technology, and the latest introduction, new 180mm and 230mm angler grinders achieve ultra low vibration ratings.

These powerful 2,400watt angle grinders have the main rear handle effectively separated from the motor body by a pivot fulcrum and rubber damper system. When the grinder is being used vibration would be transmitted into the rear handle but with the new AVT system the pressure from the operator on the handle makes it pivot on the fulcrum, which engages the rubber damper nearest to the motor body thus absorbing the vibration before it reaches the grip area.

Adding further operator protection, the new Makita AVT side handle uses the same fulcrum system with the handle, which is made from a GRP/rubber sandwich with end counterweight, pivoting on a ball joint onto the rubber damper which again reduces the transmission of the machine vibration to the grip handle. This AVT side-handle can be fitted to existing Makita grinders.

Both new angle grinders feature the soft-start system whereby the motor drive will build up speed gradually irrespective of trigger depression. This reduces the torque kick on start up, a further safety protection. Both models have a maximum no load speed of 8,500rpm.

Both handgrip controls can be used in three positions; the rear section can be rotated through 180 degrees and locked in three positions. Similarly the front anti-vibration handle can be moved into corresponding three threaded positions on the drive housing. This gives the ideal control position for whatever angle the grinder is used to best suit the job in hand.

The combination of these two new AVT safety handles means that the new Makita GA7040S 180mm and the Makita GA9040S 230mm angle grinders are safe to use in all operations. (vibration figures not available presently)
