 | | SPECTRAPLAN USED ON ‘GREEN ISSUES’ PROJECT | | | SpectraROOF | | 04/09/2006 | | | SpectraPlan TPE single ply roofing membrane was installed on Barge Arms, a prestigious apartment development in Gloucester. The design and build contractor was Cowlin Construction, and the SpectraPlan membrane was introduced to the project by Hodge Single Ply Roofing who subsequently won the contract.
Ecological and environmental friendliness were important issues on this project and all products, including SpectraPlan, needed to meet specific 'green' performance criteria before it could be considered. SpectraPlan, being a TPE membrane, is manufactured using environmentally friendly materials and is recyclable, and on this project the membrane was mechanically fastened, thus minimising any health and safety issues associated with adhesives or naked flame work.
The Barge Arms is located in the historic Gloucester Docks area with high visibility, so aesthetics are of very high importance. The characteristic of SpectraPlan to self-tension after installation, due to retained 'elastomer memory' within the membrane itself, ensured a taught surface and particularly clean lines to the finished project. The system incorporated was SpectraPlan SM120 light grey membrane, over IKO PIR 90mm insulation, mechanically fastened. The project was fully inspected during installation by SpectraROOF field technical advisers working closely with Hodge Single Ply's installation team. | |
