 | | VITRA WINS HIGLY PRESTIGIOUS WALLPAPER* DESIGN AWARD | | | Vitra | | 16/11/2006 | | | VitrA has had its continued commitment to design excellence recognised by Wallpaper* magazine, which has awarded the international bathroom brand `Best Bathroom' for its Istanbul collection by Ross Lovegrove.
The annual Wallpaper* Design Awards, which are judged by the writers of the highly regarded design magazine as well as a number of well known guest judges such as Mario Testino, Lord Foster and Donna Karan, are considered to be amongst the most prestigious in the design industry.
The scrupulous panel selected VitrA's Istanbul concept collection by British designer Lovegrove because they felt it represented `the most ambitious bathroom range of the year'. As a leading bathroom company, VitrA prides itself on its extensive bank of designers who contribute every year to new bathroom concepts, and Ross Lovegrove, chosen by VitrA for his ability to combine organic forms with sophisticated technology and materials, is the latest high profile collaboration.
When creating the award-winning Istanbul range, Lovegrove took inspiration from the flow, liquidity and emotional properties of water, as well as many cultural aspects of the city of Istanbul - the birthplace of the VitrA brand. The result is a collection of more than 100 highly innovative products, including sanitaryware, taps, baths, tiles and furniture, which will be available through selected outlets from April 2006.
Commenting on being awarded the Wallpaper* accolade, Levent Giray, VitrA UK's managing director, said: 'As a company that is dedicated to continuously challenging how the bathroom space and the products within it are considered, we are delighted to have been recognised by the Wallpaper* Design Awards. Together with Ross Lovegrove we have created a collection that we believe will set totally new standards for bathroom design.'
