CHARITY NETS £3,500 FROM RIVER TRIP
Principle Cleaning Services (PCS)
28/09/2006
A trip on the River Thames has brought a chance for Gary Tanner of Kimtech Project Management to try his hand at a different type of sailing.
Gary put in the winning bid in the auction for a day's sailing on a Whitbread Round the World racing yacht.
The auction was one of the highlights of the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) London Branch river trip sponsored by Principle Cleaning Services (PCS) on July 12.
Other auction items were secured by Steve Neville of R & D Security who outbid others for a Jasper Conran Waterford Crystal Martini Jug and Liz Rice of Metro Broadcast who gets to spend a weekend in a Norfolk house.
With the larger Dutch Master boat booked this year for the entertaining annual evening on the water, the event attracted more than 300 people. As well as enjoying themselves they raised more than £3,500 for charity from the auction and raffle.
With an onboard barbecue and a jazz band, there was a chance for both fun and networking opportunities.
The money raised will be donated to the Hornsey Trust which Principle Cleaning supports on a regular basis as its corporate charity.
PCS Managing Director Douglas Cooke said: 'Our decision to opt for a larger boat to accommodate more people and make a nominal £12.50 charge proved successful for both the people who attended and the charity. From each £12.50 entrance fee collected, £5 was donated to the Trust.'
* The Hornsey Trust which helps children with cerebral palsy is based in Muswell Hill. Specialising in a teaching method called 'Conductive Education' it provides one to one support for children under two, parent and child sessions, a school for five to seven-year-olds and training and advice for both families and healthcare professionals. Principle Cleaning donates a percentage of annual profits to the Trust and PCS Managing Director Douglas Cooke is a Trustee of the charity.
