If you want to know what your building will look like before work has started on it, Peterborough-based Building Services Design consultants, Cunnington Clark, has the solution.
The company is currently the only UK Building Services consultants to use MagiCAD, an innovative building services software package that allows 3D modelling and ventilation, heating, domestic services and electrical design. The software package, developed by leading European developers progman Oy, is the market leader in Nordic countries.
Cunnington Clark uses 3-D models to design, analyse and modify building services installations at all stages of a project. The MagiCAD software uses actual product data, including dimensions and technical data, to highlight the impact that services have on a building, for example sound calculations on a ventilation system. MagiCAD includes a product database of over 50 manufacturers.
Commenting on how the software has made a positive impact on the business, Cunnington Clark's MD David Clark told us, 'Creating a technical 3-D model which is based on the geometry and technical properties of the building is the first stage of any project. MagiCAD allows us to concentrate on how each system will integrate through the building structure at the earliest stages of a project. The software will detect clashes, work out space limits and give out a lot of useful design information before the final calculation is made. That means changes can be made while there is still time and before money has been spent. The interface with Navisworks allows us to produce visualisation of the services installation.'
The Directors of Cunnington Clark are working with MagiCad Developers, Progman Oy and its subsidiary CADCOM AB, supporting in the continuous development of the software.
