 | | DUPONT TAKES VAPOUR PERMEABILITY TO THE MAX | | | DuPont Glass Laminating Solutions | | 12/10/2006 | | | With the introduction of revolutionary new product Tyvek® Vapermax, science company DuPont is again setting new standards in the world of breather membranes. Using advanced composite technology, DuPont has developed a structure of fine fibres for the ultimate protection of roofs, reproducing the unique features of a material with similar characteristics invented by nature to keep sheep warm and dry - wool.
Taking direct inspiration from this natural ovine protection, the unique bi-component fibres in Tyvek® Vapermax never get wet thanks to the membrane's hygroscopic core structure, which accelerates moisture transfer. Conversely, its sheath is hydrophobic and repels water. In the worst climatic conditions and high moisture environments, Tyvek® Vapermax is designed to keep buildings comfortable and protected, with the risk of interstitial condensation reduced to the lowest level.
The membrane acts like a fleece, helping to keep heat inside the house and maintaining low moisture content in the timber framework. It actively helps to reduce CO2 emissions, and is compliant with BS5250 and Part L of the building regulations. Thanks to its extremely low resistance to vapour diffusion, Tyvek
Achieving class W1 water tightness and boasting a water vapour permeability of ca 13,000 g/m2.d, Tyvek
Unlike other products on the market today, Tyvek® Vapermax is dimensionally stable and so doesn't creep under tension. This unique feature allows it to be used in all kinds of wind conditions, with unlimited batten space. When used on a sarking roof, it will remain flat and not wrinkle in any temperature condition, allowing easy installation for roofers. It is available in widths of either 1.5m or 1m for a 50m roll.
Tyvek® Vapermax is an exceptional manmade product that takes its inspiration from the perfection achieved by nature in providing protective solutions.
Vapermax can be used directly in contact with the insulation in warm roofs, or in cold non-ventilated roofs. Vapermax is strongly recommended for buildings where the risk of interstitial condensation is higher than normal. Commercial buildings, such as swimming pools, hospitals and schools, where energy savings and a healthy environment are top priorities, are the ideal application for the membrane. | |
