 | | BAILEY JOHNSON SCOOPS TOP AWARD FOR WM MORRISON SUPERMARKETS PLC | | | Bailey Johnson | | 11/06/2006 | | | Bailey Johnson, part of NG Bailey, is flying high after winning the gold award for best use of fibrous plaster and glass reinforced gypsum (GRG) at the annual Association of Interiors Specialists (AIS) awards.
The company, which specialises in the design, supply and installation of suspended ceilings, fibrous plaster work, architectural mouldings, partition walls and fire protection solutions, scooped the award in the ceilings under £100,000 category, following its installation of a state-of-the-art ceiling at Morrison's supermarket in Auchinlea, Glasgow. The use of classic fibrous plaster and GRG is a design feature in the supermarket's chain of stores and the judges' verdict was that Bailey Johnson's installation would not look out of place in a major public building.
David Wade, construction director at Morrison's said: 'Bailey Johnson created a wonderful ceiling in-store, which looks great. The award was well deserved and I'm really pleased the team have been rewarded for their work.'
Speaking about the win, John Hayton, general manager at Bailey Johnson, said: 'We are delighted to have won such public recognition for our work. It's a real tribute to all the hard work the team at Bailey Johnson have put in and we feel very proud.
'We pride ourselves on creating structures that are not only practical, but attractive and eye-catching too - something we achieved perfectly with this project.'
The award was presented to Bailey Johnson at an awards ceremony attended by 430 guests, which took place at London's Dorchester Hotel. 3D Architects, who helped design the ceiling, also received an award for its work.
