Jaga Heating Products has today unveiled what is believed to be the world's first heating solution that works actively to prevent harmful bacteria from reproducing on its surface. Specifically designed for healthcare locations, the Maxi LST anti-microbial is believed to be the first radiator to join the fight against dangerous hospital acquired infections. Where standard radiators in all hospital wards are difficult to keep clean and only encourage germs to breed, this is a new fully tested and certified heating solution that does not support the spread of so-called superbugs such as MRSA.

According to Politics UK there were 3,580 MRSA bloodstream infections recorded between April and September last year. Other official figures show that about 15% of reported cases results in death with the number of deaths doubling every three years (source: Office of National Statistics). With the threat of multi-drug resistant bacteria on the increase hospitals face continual pressure to tackle hygiene problems and stop the spread of infection in many hospitals all over the UK. The Maxi LST anti-microbial works on contact; the active silver ions in the coating disrupt the key cell functions, stopping the microbe from operating, growing or reproducing.

The original heavy duty Maxi LST (low surface temperature) remains the best-selling LST radiator for healthcare locations. Its surface temperature remains below 43°°-C at all times, reducing the potential for accidental or deliberate burns providing safe heating for patients. Its soft rounded design also minimises the possibility of injury from falls to the units. This successful and popular combination now comes available with the antimicrobial coating. Aesthetically pleasing; the anti-microbial retains the sophisticated and classic form of the original Maxi LST.

Through the different Maxi WT, Maxi W F, Maxi FT and Maxi FF types, the range answers all requirements for floor models with two front grilles, floor models with a top and front grille, and wall mounted models with a front grille. For all Jaga Maxi LST radiators, pencil-proof grilles can be specified to virtually eliminate the possibility of smaller objects or waste falling into or being inserted into the casing and locks are provided to prevent unauthorised removal of the casing.

All Maxi LST models are now available in metallic sandblast grey, white or traffic white finishes as standard with a wide range of other colours also available to special order. With a choice of six profiles ranging from a slim 13cm to a depth of 23cm, Maxi LST radiators are available in sizes from 44cm (height) x 63cm (length) up to 74cm (height) x 203cm (length) which in the Maxi WT provides a heat output of up to 6685 watts.

Phil Marris, Director and General Manager of Jaga Heating Products commented that the anti-microbial radiator is 'an exciting and ground breaking addition to the Jaga range that will not only provide efficient heating but by making hospitals cleaner and safer environments will keep the dramatic MRSA figures from rising any further'.
