 | | HOPPE HANDLES "COMPLEMENT DRAMATIC DESIGN" OF NEW JAMIE OLIVER RESTAURANT | | | Hoppe (UK) Ltd | | 01/02/2007 | | | HOPPE' s stainless steel lever handles have helped complete the design of Jamie Oliver's new restaurant, Fifteen Cornwall, in Newquay. Local agency Absolute Design specified handles from the leading door and window hardware supplier as part of its brief to “exploit the contrast behind fine dining and a beach hut”, which has been adapted to house the new restaurant.
Wessex Ironmongery regularly buys a variety of products from Hoppe and provided the handles for the restaurant. Owner Chris Blacker states: “We automatically chose Hoppe’s hardware for this project because they are reliable, quality products that are commercially hard wearing.”
Helen Blake, Managing Director of Absolute Design explains: “Every aspect of the design for Fifteen Cornwall was thoroughly considered to give a consistent and quality driven finish, right down to the choice of door handles. The oversized, brushed stainless steel push/pull handles don't need constant polishing and really complement the rest of the dramatic design”.
Other special features include a reclaimed tree-trunk as a reception desk, the colour pink and the use of natural products, as used in the original Fifteen in London and specified by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver. Absolute Design also translated Fifteen's urban look into the more relaxed Cornish beach culture with floor to ceiling windows, Moooi dining chairs and a lighting installation of 78 drop-pendants stretching across the dining room, from Danish company Next. Local artist Ross Imms has decorated the open-plan kitchen area.
Fifteen Cornwall's Manager Polly Dent is bowled over by the interior design and believes it will help the restaurant in its ambition to be seen as world class: "Absolute Design has done a magnificent job, creating a restaurant that reflects the energy, vibrancy and style of Fifteen, very much driven by Jamie Oliver himself.”
