 | | AUTODESK BUZZSAW HELPS IRELAND’S LARGEST SHOPPING CENTRE OPEN MORE DOORS ON TIME | | | Autodesk | | 22/03/2007 | | | Following the success of Autodesk® Buzzsaw® solution on the first phase of the design and construction of the Dundrum Town Centre, Lafferty Project Management (LPM) is now stipulating the use of the on-demand collaborative project management (CPM) solution in tenders for the second phase. Dundrum Town Centre near Dublin is the largest shopping centre in Ireland –and will possibly be the biggest in the whole of Europe when Phase 2 is completed. It already stretches over 150,000 square metres.
“Buzzsaw played a key part in helping us ensure that Phase 1 was opened to deadline,” says Suzanne Clarke, project manager at LPM. “It helped us save time at every phase by smoothing the information flow and improving communication between team members.”
In fact, over 200 users constantly accessed the site which is still being used by legal teams and estate agents working with the client, Crossridge Investments, and tenants.
Clarke explains that before using Buzzsaw the whole communication process was cumbersome and inefficient: “There were hundreds on the team and everything was taking so long with emails crashing and uncertainties as to whether vital information had been received.”
Autodesk Buzzsaw was chosen to help solve the problem because it was so easy to use. “With Buzzsaw all we need to do is give team members the password and they are up and running,” she says. “Once a drawing or document is on the site, all authorised personnel have access and there’s no denying they’ve received it or opened it – it’s their responsibility.
“Every time a drawing is uploaded or a change is made, everyone concerned is notified by email, so they can access the most recent information.”
The contractors had limited use on Phase 1 but for Phase 2 both the contractors and sub contractors will have full access to the solution. | |
