 | | SOLA SKYLIGHTS LIGHTS THE WAY WITH SKY TUNNEL | | | Sola Skylights UK Limited | | 30/11/2006 | | | Ideally suited to the growing demand for opening up roof spaces, creating rooms from nothing and for the high density housing dictated by the Government's PPG3 directive, Sola Skylights, the UK's only BBA accredited manufacturer of flexible light pipes, offers its innovative Sky Tunnel, a natural and energy efficient lighting solution.
The Sky Tunnel is designed to efficiently pipe daylight into dark interiors and is ideal for most commercial and residential buildings. The Sky Tunnel is a complete roof-to-ceiling skylight system incorporating a polycarbonate dome fitted to a metal up-stand which is then attached to a reflective, flexible metallic Flexi-Tube® providing light to a diffuser in the ceiling below.
Launched in the UK to great response in 1992 the Sky Tunnel remains a major innovation in the building industry, as it is a cost effective and hassle free means of piping natural light into dark areas of any building. The Sky Tunnel offers developers a real alternative to costly and hard to fit skylight windows or solid pipe skylights. The Sky Tunnel features three metres of unique flexible piping (Flexi-Tube®) as standard (with four or five metre options also available), which saves time in fitting and space in the development. There is no need for multiple elbow joints when piping cannot run in a straight line and the piping is simply and easily run from the roof to the ceiling in one easy step.
All of the components of the Sky Tunnel are delivered in a single carton and can be assembled and installed within two hours without the need for costly framing, dry lining, painting or ceiling re-texturising ensuring minimum disruption.
The Sky Tunnel is readily available from all leading merchants in standard models for tile, slate or flat roofs, but alternative roof types such as corrugated metal deck can also be catered for. The standard ST350 model fits between 400mm frame, whilst the ST400, ST500 and ST550 fit between 600mm centres.
