PVC roofline and cladding systems from Swish Building Products have been selected by Kendrick Construction to deliver a low maintenance and flexible solution on a specialist social housing project.

Kendrick Construction invited Swish to become involved in its new build development at Belgrave Lodge, a 34 unit care and housing scheme in Coventry for the Anchor Trust and Coventry City Council.

During the project the architect and developer found that the cladding material originally specified did not meet their design needs and, following meetings with the customer, approached Swish to provide a system with more installation flexibility.

With an already established relationship with Kendrick Homes, Swish Building Products was able to recommend the Swish 125mm Tee Gee cladding system.

Geoff Wheeler, business development manager Swish Building Products, said: "We have been working closely with Kendrick for a number of years, although not in the social housing sector.

"They were consequently familiar with the Swish Tee Gee tongue-and-groove cladding system, its applications and the savings it could deliver in terms of both installed and maintenance costs.

"Each board has a cover width of 125mm so cutting down installation time. As with all our white cellular PVC products, TeeGee cladding carries a 15 Year colour-fastness guarantee, is lead free and requires minimal maintenance. In reality there's no reason why these profiles shouldn't go on looking good for the next 60 years, which makes PVC ideal for use in this kind of social housing project."

Dave Disney contract manager at Walsall-based, Kendrick said, "The scale and the detail of the project made it important that the right cladding system was used. The scheme was comparatively intricate and there were a number of challenging angles and details, so we had to select a system which had a number of installation solutions, was relatively simple to work with and would deliver strong aesthetics. Our experience of working with the Swish product in the private sector meant we were able to recommend its use on the Belgrave Lodge project, and we are confident that we were able to deliver value for our customer."
