 | | ILLUMINATING RUSKIN | | | The Rooflight Company | | 14/05/2007 | | | Launching their ‘Ruskin’ show home from the new Renaissance collection at the BuildStore's National Self Build and Renovation Centre in Swindon, the UK's leading self build experts Potton Ltd are aiming to inspire with a stunning selection of properties named after eminent minds of the late 19th Century. Taking just 12 weeks to build, the new range was influenced by the Victorian Arts and Crafts movement and has been designed to replicate the quality, beauty and craftsmanship of the period. In order to introduce as much natural light as possible, the ‘Ruskin’ has been installed with products from specialist manufacturer the Rooflight Company.
Externally the show home presents a traditional appearance, but the interior features a contemporary, minimalist design with an emphasis on bright and airy open plan spaces. Featuring vaulted ceilings, a galleried landing and a warm, clean palette of beech wood and glass, it is illuminated by 11 accurate steel reproductions of Victorian skylights meeting modern standards of insulation, weather tightness and safety. Offering a combination of quality and value for money, nine Replica Rooflights® measuring 615mm x 1045mm were selected for the project, along with two bespoke Special Rooflights®. The products' slim profiles, authentic period appearance and high-quality, energy-efficient designs convinced Potton they were the ideal choice for the Renaissance collection. The Replica Rooflights®, which are competitively priced, also have additional features such as Activ® self-cleaning glass and gas struts for means of escape.
Sales and Marketing Director Joe Martoccia explains: "With this new range of homes, the challenge was to incorporate products and features that sat well with both the Arts & Crafts, late Victorian-style exteriors and the modern living spaces inside. Seeing the fine lines, slim profile and authentic period style of the Replica Rooflight®, we knew it would be perfect for this project, and its unobtrusive internal aspect suits the minimalist interior design. We worked closely with the team at the Rooflight Company, who went out of their way to match our requirements exactly, particularly on the two Special pentagonal mirror image skylights that straddle each side of the facing roof ridge, and we were very impressed with the service they offered."
The Replica Rooflight® is available in three sizes and two escape options, while Special Rooflights® can be made to suit any specification. The incorporation of patented Thermoliner® thermally decoupled lining on all products ensures no condensation problems occur. | |
